The End of the Rainbow.

Anyone who has ever tried to stand under the end of the rainbow knows that it is impossible. While you're headed towards the end of the rainbow you see the end directly in front of you just below the hill of grass. You head in that direction only to arrive there and find the end of the rainbow has moved ahead a couple feet or even a mile.

That very thing happened to us yesterday. We had a beautiful rain storm, and on our way home from the farm last night, I decided to see how close we could get to the end of the rainbow. My daughters said to me..."Mom, don't you know we can't get to the rainbow?" I said, "Of course, I was not born yesterday." But it would be fun just to see where the rainbow takes us. We drove for a little while out in the dessert, but I could tell the kids were not up for the adventure. I always thought the adults were the party poopers, but in my family, at this point in our lives, I feel that the party poopers are my kids.

So we stopped and enjoyed the beauty of the rainbow and desert for a few moments and then headed back to town.

This reminds me of the opportunities we might have in life that are thrown at us either by someone or by the Creator Himself and we are too busy, or tired, or fearful to take on the opportunity. We get so settled into our routines and the comfort of our schedules that we don't even step foot into the adventurous side of our life. Who knows what could be at the end of that rainbow of opportunity. The journey or path is most likely filled with adventure, unexpected challenges, learning experiences and beauty, maybe even a new friend.

I know I would've enjoyed the walk or drive to the end of the rainbow last night. I'm not sure what we would have encountered if we would have ventured that way, but I will never know and neither will my kids... because we didn't even start on it. Yes, we thought about it and feasted our eyes on the beauty of it, but we didn't venture any farther than that. Opportunity awaits, take the journey!

Beverly Shook!

I was born in Jerome Idaho on a Dairy farm. My family owned about 60-80 cows and two family farms. My Dad and Grandpa farmed and dairied throughout my childhood. As a child I loved living in the country and spending my time outdoors riding horses, gardening and jogging around our farm. I also enjoyed cooking for the family in the summer time. My brother and I started working on the farm in early elementary; feeding calves and picking rock in the spring. As my grandfather aged we took over his job of milking the cows once a day. Usually we milked the cows in the evening after school and sports. Then we would make our way up to the house and eat a yummy dinner and do our homework and go to bed and start the day all over again. We were taught to work hard, play hard and we slept hard as well. My mom was a farm wife. She spent her time gardening, running errands for my dad and driving us to Christian School every day as well as picking us after all our school activities. I was the oldest of my siblings. I enjoyed my family and having siblings. We were all pretty close growing up and enjoyed being together. There are always those rivalries and issues, but as a whole we enjoyed togetherness. Our home was always open to family and friends traveling through or even a stranger who was stranded in town. My dad was a friend to everyone and taught us to be aware and notice the needs around us.

I enjoyed being around people, but always have struggled with my shy side. My husband and I have been married for 20 years. We have 4 children ranging from 19 years down to 6 years. My life is very busy and eventful. My husband is a full time realtor in Twin Falls Idaho. I assist him in our real estate business. I do all the Internet marketing of our listings and corresponding with our clients. I photograph all of our listings and other realtors listings as well. I market our listings in magazines and websites all over the nation. I also enjoy photographing nature and when we travel I spend a lot of time photographing the areas in which we visit. I make cards and framed prints. I sell them to customers and at Seasonal Open Houses and in Local Stores. I have recently started a blog connecting nature with everyday life experiences and spiritual insights. Attempting to encourage whomever reads my blogs or looks at my photographs. I love my family and am very committed to helping them succeed in their everyday life and future. I believe in God and daily search to know Him and love Him more. I find peace and joy in the world He created. It is so nice to look out the window or take a walk outdoors and see a beautiful cloud, flower or sunset and be reminded of His love for me. I can thank my mother for her consistent reminder of the beautiful world we live in and constantly telling us to look at the moon or look at the Nevada Mountains today or a Sunset or Rainbow, whatever posed itself to us at that moment. Life is Good and I strive to remind others of that fact.
